Fanny Elena Ramirez, MD, FAAFP

Dr. Ramirez is the Medical Director and founder of My Family Doctor. Originally from Medellin, Colombia, Dr. Ramirez immigrated to the United States with her family in the early 1990s fleeing violence and political turmoil. After completing her residency in Family Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine, Dr. Ramirez began her medical career in the US working as the lead in-house physician at Enron. After that company’s collapse in 2010, Dr. Ramirez started her own independent practice serving the Hispanic community and her patients who were former employees of Enron at her offices in the St. Joseph Medical Center in downtown Houston. Since then, Dr. Ramirez has grown her practice to include several full-service primary care facilities in the greater Houston area as well as a network of physicians and health care professionals who share her passion for improving the lives and health outcomes of underserved communities. Dr. Ramirez is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians and, in addition to her leadership position with My Family Doctor, serves on the board and as Medical Director of a variety of independent physician associations committed to achieving high quality care for seniors.

Dr. Ramirez was recently recognized as one of four “Outstanding Leaders in Healthcare” by the Houston Business Journal based upon her contribution to Houston, community involvement, and leadership. Her commitment to her patients and the medical profession is fueled by her belief that close personal relationships between the physician, the patient and their family is the key to achieving optimal health, wellness, and long life.

Dr. Ramirez continues to see patients at the St. Joseph Clinic on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 6:30 am to 2 pm.
