Carlos R. Herrera, MD, MPH

Dr. Herrera specializes in Internal Medicine. After receiving his medical degree from Harvard Medical School in 1983, Dr. Herrera obtained a Masters in Public Health from the University of Texas. He went on to practice medicine independently for 20 years before joining his practice with My Family Doctor in 2018. In addition to his work practicing medicine, Dr. Herrera has a passion for teaching and community service, having dedicated countless hours to mentoring medical and nursing students as well as serving in leadership positions with a variety of community organizations , including Literacy Volunteers of America, Amigos de Las Americas, the Hispanic Advocacy Project, as well as local churches, elementary schools, and radio stations. Dr. Herrera has also served on the faculty of the University of Texas as well as a frequent national lecturer on topics affecting Hispanic culture and cardiovascular care. Dr. Herrera’s distinguished medical career has led him to focus his current practice on seniors suffering from chronic diseases as well as medical issues predominantly affecting Hispanic communities such as diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease. He also participates in several clinical research trials in these areas.

Dr. Herrera sees patients at the Heights Clinic on Mondays and Tuesdays from 8 am to 5 pm.
